Accredited operators and journalists should book the events by contacting the cellars personally and then reach the locations of the event in the cellar with their own transport means.

10:30 a.m. – 12:30  p.m.
Final of the National competition “Sagrantino nel piatto”
A committee composed of food & wine experts, will taste and judge the recipes of restaurateurs who have reached the final and will test their ability preparing the best dishes made using Sagrantino wine. The names of the winners will be announced at the end of the fi nal event (one winner for “Entrees and Main Courses” and a winner for the “Appetizers and Desserts” category). During the assessment and tasting of the dishes competing, the jury will be able to choose from a specifi c wine list which wine goes best with each dish. The competition will last about two hours.

The cellars introduce:

  • Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2015 dry and raisin wine
  • Montefalco Rosso DOC 2017
  • Montefalco Rosso DOC Riserva 2016
  • Montefalco Bianco DOC, Montefalco Grechetto DOC and and other white wines from participating cellars
  • Montefalco DOC and Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG wines years currently on sale

 

 3:00 p.m.
“Sagrantino Gran Prix”
National competition for sommeliers. The best three sommeliers, chosen among all participants from various Italian regions, will compete for sought-after scholarships in this public final test. A unique opportunity to admire professional sommeliers at work with tastings, food and wine pairing, wine lists and everything linked to the correct presentation of Sagrantino in a restaurant.

4:30 p.m. – Complesso Museale San Francesco
Presentation of the 2018 harvest
Presentation of the 2015 vintage and the celebrating label
Presentation of all the participating producers
Opening remarks:  Donatella Tesei, mayor of Montefalco
Speakers:

  • Luca D’Attoma, Oenologist
  • Filippo Antonelli, President of Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco
  • Fernanda Cecchini, Councillor for Agriculture, Umbria Region

Celebration label 2015: Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco is the sponsor of the “2015 Art Labels”, a competition addressed at young Italian and foreign cartoonists working in Italy. The best work of art will become the celebratory label for the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2015 vintage.

Tasting of Sagrantino wines reserved to the operators of the sector and restaurateurs: focus on 2009 vintage.
